Archive Browser is an archival enquiry application designed for general use, with no special technical or archival knowledge being required to locate information held in the archival catalogue.
The menu displayed at the top of the main window provides access to Archive Browser's operational and help functions. The top line shows the menu groups, and the second line lists the options associated with the currently selected menu group. An option is activated by clicking its name.
Selecting an option from the Materials or Context menu will result in the relevant search or browse form being displayed in the selection pane. In a standard configuration it will also and show associated help notes in the display pane, but this automatic help feature may be disabled to leave the display pane unchanged.
Selecting an option from the Help menu will load the associated help notes into the display pane, but leave the selection pane unchanged.

Lists of links to related information are presented as a set of options, one per line, in a list box like that illustrated on the right. This type of link is activated by clicking the relevant option line. |
If a record list contains a large number of records, the list will be divided into a set of pages and a navigation bar, like that illustrated below, displayed above the list box or tree.
If the entered page number is not a positive integer, the first page will be returned. If it is greater than the maximum page number, the last page will be returned.
